For most nurseries, one of the biggest day-to-day headaches is having to confine their energetic young charges to "quarters". There's no question growing children are happiest when they're able to run around "unrestricted" in a safe, secure fun environment and get some fresh air in their lungs at the same time.
Unfortunately a combination of poor drainage coupled with water running down from the higher level regularly causing flooding of the lower level, meant that for the privately owned Little Schoolhouse Day Nursery in Sheffield,, outside was more often synonymous with "out of commission".
Bad news all round because being "cooped up" indoors resulted in inevitable excesses of pent up energy leading to restless, frustrated and often irritable little ones and seriously stressed out staff!!
The Solution
The simple answer to combating the problems and give the children their "freedom", was to install AG 24/7
The area was de-turfed, levelled and properly prepared before the carpet was laid.
The quite pronounced slope was made more progressive meaning that the children have a more expansive area to play in without any risk of injury.
Indeed the newly created bank provides an additional "play feature" to fire their amazingly fertile imaginations.
The Result
Introducing AG 24/7 immediately meant that come hail, rain or shine, outside is always an option. In turn meaning happier, healthier children and unstressed staff!!
