The Inspiration behind The Alternative Grass Company
Joseph McPhee - Managing Director
Prior to setting up The Alternative Grass Company in 2001, I enjoyed a successful 20 year career in the world of high finance working for some of the biggest names in the business including Scottish Equitable International and Scottish Amicable International.
Ambitious, dynamic and highly motivated, I had long aspired to running my own business and it was a combination of my strong desire to invest in something I fervently believed in, coupled with my lifelong passion for sport, that inevitably led to the formation of The AG Co.
Having played a number
of sports to an extremely high standard,
including football at semi-professional level, never one to miss an opportunity,
I recognised the massive potential for synthetic grass applications
in markets outside the conventional sporting arena.
Historically, primarily due to cost-constraints, the use of synthetic grass had been almost exclusively restricted to large sports complexes, but the advent of new technology meant the economically viable production of third generation synthetic grass was possible, which immediately opened up a number of previously inaccessible market sectors.
Harnessing the numerous product benefits with the best possible service levels, allied to our continued ability to accurately interpret requirements and deliver cost-effective solutions, has resulted in countless satisfied customers throughout the UK and across Europe.
